Adding a Dynamic Year to the Copyright Notice in the Footer Area


Purpose:
To include a dynamic year in the copyright notice in the footer area of your website so you don't have to remember to update this notice every year.
Solution:
  1. Select System (horizontal top menu) / Configuration.
  2. Go to the General section, and then click on the Design tab.
  3. Expand the HTML Head panel.
  4. Copy and paste the following in the Miscellaneous Scripts field:
    <!-- DYNAMIC COPYRIGHT YEAR IN FOOTER -->
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var dateObject=new Date(); </script>
  5. Expand the Footer panel.
  6. Copy and paste the following in the Copyright field and modify as needed:
    &copy; <script type="text/javascript"> document.write(dateObject.getFullYear()); </script> by [YOUR COMPANY NAME]. All rights reserved.
  7. Save your changes.
  8. Clear the cache (System / Cache Management > Flush Magento Cache button)
