How to Run a Traceroute and Write the Results to File

Purpose:

Sometimes a website will appear down to some people, but the site will be up for other people. Running a traceroute will give some perspective to the problem. This article will explain how to run a traceroute and then write the results to file.

Solution:
  1. Open the RUN command on your computer.  This command is most often found on the menu that opens when you click the Start button.
  2. Into the Run command, type cmd.
  3. At the prompt, type: tracert www.yourdomain.com > c:\trace.txt (Substitute www.yourdomain.com with your store's domain)

On your computer's C: drive, there will be a text file called trace.txt.  Send that file to support.
