We have been analyzing the NCR Retail Online (NRO) business and our NCR Industry Solutions Board, an internal team that helps set strategy, has decided to set the NRO product to End of Life on March 31, 2018 . The CPOnline Product was also recently announced with an end of life date of September 30th, 2017 . The End of Life terms indicate that all current customers will need to be transitioned off their respective product and the servers turned off by 9/30/17 (CPO) & 3/31/18 (NRO) . Your NCR Counterpoint business partner has been notified of this decision in advance and has started taking steps to help you transition your eCommerce solution.

Moving future-dated discounts from NCR Retail OnlineWhen an online shop is moved away from NCR Retail Online, promotional pricing deserves more attention than a simple product export. A standard price can be copied across with its SKU and stock record, while a discount scheduled to begin or finish months later depends on dates, customer groups, tax settings, campaign rules and the destination platform’s timezone. Learn more about Achieving Readability With Minimal Css Stylesheets. This matters when a retailer has already advertised a sale, prepared a catalogue or negotiated a supplier-funded promotion. Christmas bundles, end-of-financial-year offers, clearance markdowns and loyalty discounts may have been entered in NCR’s system long before customers are meant to see them. If those future prices are imported as current prices, the business can lose margin immediately. Learn more about How To Train Your Team On Magento S Admin Interface After Ncr.html. Australian retailers also need to preserve the displayed price accurately under the Australian Consumer Law. A crossed-out “was” price must be genuine, and an advertised discount cannot create a misleading impression. GST treatment, prices in Australian dollars and local trading hours should be checked alongside the promotional data rather than treated as an afterthought. The safest migration treats each promotion as a business record with a lifecycle: draft, scheduled, active, expired or cancelled. Magento and WooCommerce can support this workflow through different extensions and configuration approaches, so the migration team must map the original logic instead of assuming that every discount field has a direct equivalent.
Audit the original promotional dataBegin with an export from NCR Retail Online that includes SKU, regular price, promotional price, promotion name, start date, end date, customer eligibility, minimum quantity and any usage limit. The supported NCR export formats should be reviewed before the extraction is designed, because a spreadsheet export may omit relationships that exist in a structured feed. Create a separate inventory of campaign-level rules. A promotion such as “20% off all winter jackets” may not appear as a reduced price on every product. It may be generated from a category, brand, customer segment or coupon condition. Record both the visible result and the rule that produced it, otherwise the destination store may contain correct prices but lose the campaign’s intended scope. Pay particular attention to dates stored without a timezone. A promotion set to begin at midnight in Perth should not unexpectedly activate at midnight in Sydney if the new platform uses a single server timezone. Convert every timestamp to a documented Australian timezone, then decide whether the storefront should publish at local business time or at one national moment. Map prices to the destination platformMagento generally offers detailed catalogue price rules, customer groups and scheduled changes, which suits retailers with layered promotions. WooCommerce can handle sale prices and coupon periods directly, while more complex campaigns often require a trusted extension. The choice should reflect the retailer’s operational capacity, not just the number of products being migrated. Map regular price, sale price, start date and end date separately. Never overwrite the standard price with the discounted value. Keep the original amount available so the platform can restore it automatically when the campaign ends. Where a rule has no direct equivalent, preserve the original campaign ID in a custom field or migration log. Australian pricing needs a specific check for GST-inclusive presentation. Most consumer-facing retail prices include GST, yet imported data can mix tax-exclusive supplier costs with customer prices. Compare a sample in Sydney, Melbourne and a regional delivery location, checking cents, rounding and shipping thresholds. A small rounding discrepancy can become visible across a large catalogue. Protect the customer experience during the changeA promotion that has already been advertised must behave consistently across the website, search results, product pages, cart, checkout, email feeds and any connected point-of-sale system. Test the full journey with a product scheduled for a future start, one currently discounted and one whose sale has expired. Verify that cached pages do not show a price after the rule has ended. Seasonal merchandising requires careful calendar planning. A retailer preparing Christmas bundles may coordinate its offer with Christmas gifting ideas, catalogues and paid advertising weeks in advance. Import the campaign before its start date, but keep it disabled until the destination storefront, stock and creative assets have passed testing. Use a staging site with the same currency, tax, catalogue and extension settings as production. Test daylight-saving transitions, especially for campaigns spanning October to April in New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory. Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not change clocks, so a national promotion can expose an hour difference if the schedule is poorly defined. Build controls for staff and automated jobsA migration is complete only when staff can understand and maintain the new pricing rules. Teams used to NCR’s screens may need a different workflow for editing catalogue rules, scheduling changes, checking logs and cancelling a promotion. A practical [Magento admin training](https://ncrretailonline.com/posts/how-to-train-your-team-on-magento- admin-interface-after-ncr.html) session should use the retailer’s real products and campaigns rather than generic examples. Create permissions that separate price editing from publishing where possible. Require a second review for high-value markdowns, and retain an approval record for promotions that affect thousands of products. This helps identify whether a wrong price came from the import, a later manual edit or an automated rule. Use these operating controls during and after the migration:
Reconcile expiry, compliance and trading operationsAfter launch, compare the destination prices with the source records at several checkpoints: immediately after import, on the scheduled start date, during the sale and after expiry. Automated reports should flag a sale price that remains active, a missing regular price or a product whose campaign dates do not match the approved schedule. Keep evidence for advertised discounts, particularly for clearance events and “was/now” messaging. Under the Australian Consumer Law, a previous price should represent a real selling price for a reasonable period, rather than a figure created solely to make the discount look larger. Promotional copy should also state relevant conditions such as membership requirements, minimum spend, limited stock or delivery exclusions. Operational details can reveal migration errors that a browser test misses. Check click-and-collect pricing in Melbourne and Sydney stores, regional freight thresholds, mobile checkout and marketplace feeds. A retailer selling connected devices or entertainment products may also maintain a separate live TV resource in its content or partner ecosystem; any product links, feeds or sponsored placements tied to a promotion should be checked for the same start and end dates. Keep the discontinued NCR environment available in read-only form for the agreed retention period, with access restricted to authorised staff. Store the mapping document, test evidence, approval history and exception list together. On the next business day, export the destination catalogue, compare every scheduled promotion against its source ID, and confirm that the first future-dated campaign activates at the approved Australian time. |
