Purpose:
This article explains what makes items appear as Sale and/or New.
Solution:
On Sale:
An item will appear as "On Sale" if the item's List Price is greater than Selling Price.
NOTE
:
The "On Special" flag on the Ecommerce control is a setting that was utilized by our old Ecommerce solution, CPOnline. That setting is obsolete in NRO.
New Arrivals:
An item will appear as "new" by flagging the item as such, and you must also include an "Until" date in the item record (i.e., how long should the item be considered new). The last 20 items flagged as "new’ will display on your home page. Items ordered by the 'new until' date – far away dates display towards the beginning of the list; nearer dates towards the end.
To flag an item as New:
Select Counterpoint > Inventory > Items > [pull up item] > Ecommerce tab and place a check mark in the New checkbox and indicate an "Until" date. Publish this information to NRO using at least an Add / Replace item activity publish.
NOTE:
In CPOnline, the "Until" date for new items was not required, but it is for NRO.
Highlighting New and On Sale items:
In the Celebrity theme, these items will automatically display as "Latest Arrivals" and "On Sale" on the home page slider underneath the slideshow, and elsewhere in your store they will display with the New and/or Sale image overlays. Under System > Configuration > Theme Settings > Navigation, you can choose to add these new and sale links to your horizontal navigation bar, and you can also add content to the top of one or both pages by including a static block at the top of each page.
You can also enable the new and on sale attributes in the layered navigation to allow filtering.
In the NRO admin panel, go to System > Configuration > Catalog Section > Catalog tab > Layered Navigation panel > Specials Filter Enabled and New Filter Enabled.
NRO can auto-populate New and Sale items on built in "pages" with links that appear in your navigation menu. This is enabled under System > Configuration > NCR Retail Online section > Theme Settings tab > Navigation panel.
