Summary:
Picture masks can be used to capture and display phone numbers in a specific format. By default, phone numbers are captured as a string of numbers such as 1234567890. You can use picture masks to capture and display phone numbers in an easier to read format such as: 123-456-7890 or (123) 456-7890.
Solution:
To set up Picture Masks in NRO, in the Admin Panel browse to
System / Configuration / Customers section on the left / Customer Configuration / Phone Number Options.
Set
Enable Phone Number Mask
to
Yes
.
The
Mask Placeholder
is used to display the picture mask in a phone number field while no numbers are present:
The
Phone Number Mask String
is where the picture mask is defined. Use the number 9 as the numeric placeholder and enter any slashes, parentheses, periods, spaces, or any combination of characters to make the string match the format that is desired.
A couple of examples of how the picture mask could be used are:
Once the picture mask has been defined in the desired format click
Save Config
at the top right.
Note:
Picture masks do not have to be defined in NCR Counterpoint for them to work in NRO, however if picture masks are being used in both NCR Retail Online and in NCR Counterpoint, it must be defined in the same format in both places. For instance if using a format of (123) 456-7890 in NRO and 123-456-7890 in NCR Counterpoint, during an Ecommerce import the customers will fail to import with the message "
Value for Phone 1 must match picture mask ###-###-####
"
