Purpose:
This article will explain how to configure Pre-Order items and items that don't need their quantity managed. A scenario where quantity would not need to be managed would be the ability to sell a zero dollar item, such as a catalog, in your storefront.
Solution:
One solution is to create these items as non-inventory items, in Counterpoint. Setting these items up as non-inventory items will prevent having to push fake quantity to the item, which would skew inventory reports and other CounterPoint specific reports.
If the item must be an inventory item, which might be the case for the Pre-Order items, the other option is to commission the Professional Services team to apply a small customization to your item mapping file. This customization will allow you to manage stock for some items, but not manage stock for others.
This type of stock management requires a customization, because the Integration Agent must assign certain defaults to all items, every time it processes a new Add/Replace or Full Replacement Counterpoint publish file.
