Preparing Item Information
This article will provide a high level overview for defining item information that will be published to NCR Retail Online (NRO). For more detailed setup information, follow
this link
to access the KB article titled, "Setting up Ecommerce Items in NCR Counterpoint."
The item information on your NCR Retail Online website will be pulled directly from your Counterpoint system. Because that is the case, you will need to review your item information and complete the following:
Step 1: Turn on ecommerce functionality in Counterpoint
Navigate to
Setup / Ecommerce / Control
and check the "Use Ecommerce" box
Step 2: Choose which items you would like to include on your website
This is most easily done by using the Tableview mode in the item record:
From Tableview mode you will want to add the "Ecommerce Item" column. Right click in the field descriptions bar and choose the "Column Designer"
Add the "Eccomerce Item" field to the visible fields:
Now you can easily choose the items you would like to sell online:
Step 3: Add the following information as needed to the item record
Product Name as you want customers to see it on your website (you will be able to choose which field to use for the name, the Description, Short description, Long description, or Additional description 1, 2, or 3 fields in the item record)
HTML description
Add an item image - (see the
Item Images
knowledge base article for additional information)
The Charge Freight and Freight Amount fields are not used by NRO. We will learn more about configuring shipping options in the
Shipping Options in NRO
knowledge base article later.
Assign a weight to use for shipping charges ("other"tab)
Specify whether or not the item can be discounted
Specify whether or not to charge tax on the item
Add the item to one or more ecommerce categories (You may add items in bulk in Setup/Ecommerce/Ecommerce Categories)
Specify whether to include the item on the New Items and/or Specials page in your online store. See the
New and Specials Page
knowledge base article for additional information.
Identify and link to related items ("Substitute Items" tab)
Primary vendor ("Main" tab)
You can make these changes/additions in individual item records or in bulk using Tableview mode. It is also possible to import item descriptions in bulk. See the
Importing Item Descriptions
knowledge base article for more information.
The majority of these fields are found in the item record on the "ecommerce" tab:
