Summary:
Related items can appear on an item to encourage customers to purchase additional items. In most cases, the additional items displaying on an item detail page are somehow similar to the item to which they are attached. For example, if the item detail page is for a shirt, some good related items might be pants and a belt.
Solution:
Without customization, ten related items can be published from Counterpoint to NRO. This is done by adding the ten related items to the Substitute items tab in the Counterpoint item record. However, many Counterpoint merchants actually use that tab for the purpose of substituting items. If you do use substitute items and you want related items to appear in the NRO storefront, you will need to contact RHA Support. We will need to provide you with a free custom mapping file that will not allow substitute items to publish from Counterpoint to NRO. After that is applied, you can then assign as many related items as you wish, on the NRO side. This is done on the parent item for items that are gridded in Counterpoint, known as the Configurable product type, or on the Simple item for items that are not gridded. When an item's details are opened in NRO under Catalog > Manage Products, you will see a tab labeled "Related Products." It's here that searchable items can be attached.
The setting to enable related items to appear as a bar on the right side of the item detail page is located under System > Configuration > NCR Retail Online section > Theme Settings panel > Product Options panel > Related Items in Right Column > {set to yes}.
