Implementing Custom Variables in Transactional Emails

Purpose:
To explain how to use Custom Variables in Transactional Emails.
Solution:
Select
System
(horizontal top menu) /
Transactional Emails.
Click the row of predefined templates to edit or click the Add New Template button to create a new one.
In the Template Content field, select a location for your custom variable.
Click the Insert Variable button and select the Custom Variable you would like to insert.
Click the Preview Template button to view your changes before saving. Make changes as necessary.
Save your changes using a new Template Name. It is best to leave the standard Magento templates as is. Also, be sure to update template selections under System / Configuration / Sales / Sales Emails or System / Configuration / Customers / Customer Configuration.
