My third party shipping estimates are not accurate

Summary:
This article will explain how to investigate why third party rates are being inaccurately returned.
Solution:
In most cases, inaccurate rates being returned by UPS and FedEx can be attributed to the following:
1. The UPS method within the NRO admin panel is configured for generic rates, instead of account rates and discounts.
2. Pickup method indicated in the NRO admin panel is not the same as what is configured within the third party carrier web portal.
3. Items in the cart are missing weight.
4. Items in the cart have inaccurate weight (too heavy or not enough weight).
5. Maximum box weight is inaccurately configured. For example, if the bulk of your inventory will fill a box, you'll need to change the maximum box weight in the NRO admin panel to more closely reflect your average order weight.
6. Shipments are being "dimmed" out in the warehouse, but online there aren't dimensions being sent to the carrier. There are two ways to accomplish this. The first way is to use a calculation to determine "dimensional weight." FedEx and UPS use the same calculation for converting an item's dimensions and actual weight to dimensional weight. You can find the calculation on the carrier website. Another option is to purchase the extension in our extras store that will let you send dimensions to the third party carriers. This link will take you to that extension:
