Question: I can‘t find anywhere in the knowledge base that defines what "Best Value" sorting option means. Can you tell what determines "Best Value"?
Answer: You can manipulate the Best Value results by adjusting the item‘s sort order. That setting is present in the item‘s category.
If you go to Catalog > Manage Categories, you can edit an item‘s sort order on the Category Products tab.
"Best Value" is a marketing strategy. It provides a way for you to put specific items before other items in its category.
If you want for it to not be the drop menu default, you can reposition where it appears by editing the contents of the drop menu under System > Config > Catalog
