Using the Short Description Field

Overview: This article will discuss how to use Item Notes in Counterpoint to populate the Short Description field of an item in NRO.

How to Use Item Notes

The Short Description field in NRO is a great way to add small additional details, information, and links to your item detail pages. Below is an example of the item note field being used to display a YouTube video.

The first step to using the short description field in NRO is to setup an Item Note in Counterpoint on the item level. Open up the item and start a new item note. The icon in Counterpoint looks like a blank sheet of paper by default, and if the item has item notes already, the sheet will look like it has text on it.

Once the item note tab is open, we have to give the note a specific name so that it will be mapped to the short description field in NRO. The item note should be listed as NRO-SHORTDESC, which is also reflected in the image below.

Once the Note ID has been entered, hit the tab key on your keyboard to move down to the content area of the note. As you can see with the example below, a combination of plain text and HTML has been used to format the note field.

WARNING : DO NOT use double quotes in HTML formatting entered in Counterpoint!  If you must use quotes, use single quotes.

Once the content has been entered, save the item, and publish normally. An add / replace activity publish will update the item in the storefront to reflect the changes made in Counterpoint.
