Purpose:
This article will detail how to sell Gift Cards online.
CounterPoint gift cards cannot be redeemed online, because those balances are maintained in CounterPoint.
Solution:
While NRO does not currently support the redemption of CounterPoint gift certificates, it is possible to
sell
gift certificates in your online store. Just set them up in CounterPoint as non-inventory, non-discountable, non-shippable, non-taxable items.
There are two ways to determine the dollar amounts of the gift certificate:
Set up several items as gift certificates in different dollar increments ($10, $20, $50, $100, etc.).
- OR -
Set up one item as a $1.00 gift certificate. Provide instructions so that the shopper uses the Quantity Purchased field to determine the dollar amount of the gift certificate (e.g., buy 20 gift certificates at $1.00 each to equal a $20 gift certificate).
Note that this approach
does not integrate automatically with CounterPoint gift certificates
, so you will want to implement some type of business procedure to identify new online orders that contain gift certificate purchases so you can then issue those gift certificates / gift cards in the appropriate manner.
