Purpose:
This article explains how to change the grid cell variant names and labels to something more user friendly and SEO friendly. An example would be changing BLK to Black or COLR to Color.
Solution:
Select
Catalog
(horizontal top menu) /
Attributes
/
Manage Attribute

Find the attribute that displays the unfriendly grid cell name. For example, Color or Size or Pattern or Style.
Click on the
Manage Label
/
Options
tab and expand the
Manage Options
(values of your attribute) panel.
Change the option in the Default Store View column to read the way you want.
