Differences between Add/Replace Items, Update prices/quantities, and Full replacement Item Publishes

Purpose:
This article defines the activity setting on the CounterPoint Publish Code menus.

Solution:

Add/replace items
  • Adds new items
  • Updates item information that has changed since last publish
  • Removes items that are no longer ecommerce items
  • Shows ecommerce category changes
  • You should always publish the full item range
Update prices/quantities
  • Updates prices and quantity information for ecommerce items
  • Does not add items to the site
  • Does not remove items from the site
  • It is not necessary to publish the full item range
Full replacement
  • Replaces all store items with the ones you are publishing
  • Removes items that are no longer ecommerce items
  • Shows ecommerce category changes
  • Always publish the full item range
  • Normally used only when first setting up your site, or if you need to make global changes:
    • Changes to the Ecommerce Control file
    • Ecommerce category adjustments
    • Unusual storefront display of items and categories
