Configuring NCR Counterpoint

WARNING : Before installing the Integration Agent, please remove all CPTOCPOL-###.txt files from your Ecommerce directory (CPOnline folder).
To remove all CPTOCPOL-###.txt files from your Ecommerce directory (CPOnline folder), follow these steps:

In Counterpoint, navigate to Setup / Ecommerce / Control . From the main tab of the ecommerce control file, click the hyperlink in the field labeled Ecommerce Directory . This will open your CPOnline folder. Either completely delete all of the CPTOCPOL-###.txt, or archive them to a sub-folder.

In NCR Counterpoint, go to Setup / Ecommerce / Control / ADT tab to enable the automatic transfer of data between Counterpoint and your NCR Retail Online (NRO) store.

  1. NRO does not require an FTP site, FTP user or FTP password but these values must be populated for your scheduled task(s) to work. Populate these values with the following data:
    FTP site - ftp://adt.nrostores.com
    FTP user - ADT
    FTP password - 123456
TIP: Selecting the Test connection button will return an error. This is expected, since the FTP data is invalid.
TIP: If you have not defined the ITEMS and UPDATE publish codes used by ADT, at this time, review the Configuring Your ADT Publishing Codes article for instructions on creating these publish codes, then return to this step to complete ADT setup.
  1. Map the Full publishing code to your ITEMS publish code.
  2. Map the Update publishing code to your UPDATE publish code.
  3. In the # of updates between full runs field, specify 23. This is the number of times ADT will use the Update publishing code before using the Full publishing code during its schedule.

TIP: To calculate the value to enter in the # of updates between full runs field, divide the number of minutes in a day (i.e., 1440) by the number of full updates you want to occur each day, divide the result by the number of minutes between each scheduled instance of the ADT task, and then subtract 1 (i.e.,((1140 ÷ # of full updates) ÷ scheduled task frequency) – 1).
  4. The # of updates done field indicates the number of times the Updating publishing code has been used by ADT since the last use of the Full publishing code. You can modify this value to reset your ADT schedule or to change the number of quantity and prices-only updates remaining before the next complete update.

Configuring The Scheduled Tasks Utility

Use the Scheduled Tasks utility to configure the Automated Data Transfer (ADT) for NCR Retail Online (NRO) task to run a regular schedule throughout the day.

WARNING: Any workstations on which you schedule tasks must be left on for the scheduled tasks to run successfully.
WARNING: It is likely that the first time a publish file is processed, it could take the Integration Agent several hours to initially populate your NRO store. Therefore, it is not advisable to run your ADT scheduled task, until after the very first publish file has been processed by your Integration Agent. To verify the file is finished being processed, navigate to your CPOnline folder (Setup / Ecommerce / Control / [click on the Ecommerce Directory hyperlink]) and verify the extension of your publish file changed to ".completed." Upon verifying the file has finished processing, it is safe to run your scheduled task.

TIPS:
  • If you plan to schedule the ADT task to run frequently, we highly recommend that you dedicate a Counterpoint workstation solely to this task.
  • Counterpoint utilities must be installed on the workstation you plan to use for ADT.
  1. At your ADT workstation, select Start > Programs > Counterpoint > System Configuration Utility to display the System Configuration Utility window, and then click the Scheduled Tasks button.

  2. From the Counterpoint Scheduled Tasks window, click New to define a new scheduled task.

Main Tab

  1. On the Main tab, select your company from the Alias-Company list, and then select Automated Data Transfer (ADT) for CPOnline from the Task list.
  2. Select or enter (in 24-hour format) the Start time for the task.

TIP: Select 0:00 to start the task at midnight.
  3. Select the Repeat check box , and then select to run the task every 60 minutes .
  4. Specify the Windows user name you want to use to run the ADT task in the Run As field , and then enter that user's Password .

Parameters Tab

  1. On the Parameters tab , enter the Counterpoint User ID , Counterpoint Password (if necessary ), and Counterpoint Workgroup that will be used to complete the ADT task.
TIP: The Counterpoint Password you specify appears in plain-text format and is visible to anyone who edits the scheduled tasks. You should define a Counterpoint user record that is used solely for ADT tasks. Also, so that ADT will run consistently every 30 minutes, you'll need a dedicated Counterpoint license for ADT.

  2. If you would like notification messages to be sent to the appropriate recipient(s), specify your Email server , the From email address and From name you want to use, the To email address for each recipient, separated by semicolons, and the Email subject for the messages .

TIP: The Automated Data Transfer (ADT) for CPOnline task sends notification messages each time it uses the Full publishing code, whenever Counterpoint receives new NRO orders, and whenever an error occurs. It does not send a notification message for each UPDATE publish.
  3. Click OK to save the task and return to the Counterpoint Scheduled Tasks window.

Schedule Tasks Window - Testing

  1. From the Counterpoint Scheduled Tasks window, select the Automated Data Transfer (ADT) for CPOnline task and click Run to verify that the ADT task completes successfully.

Each time the ADT task is run, Counterpoint publishes the appropriate data to your NCR Retail Online (NRO) store—using either the Full publishing code or the Update publishing code you specified—and imports orders from NRO.

TIPS:
  • You can select a scheduled task and click Delete to remove the task from the list.
  • Right-click a scheduled task to display a menu of additional options (properties & disable).
Select Properties, to display the standard Window Task Scheduler property sheet for the selected task, which allows you to define additional setting for the scheduled task.
Note: If you modify any setting for a task using the Windows Task Scheduler property sheet, you will no longer be able to edit the task using the Scheduled Tasks utility, although the task will still appear in the Counterpoint Scheduled Task window.
Select Disabled, to disable the selected task without removing it from the scheduled task list.
  • If an error occurs during ADT processing, review the Troubleshooting ADT Knowledge Base article listed in this article's Related Articles.
